Plaid skirt

Plaid print is one of my most favorite trends this fall and I'm glad that there are more and more things with this print in the shops, because thanks to this I have the opportunity to make my plaid collection bigger. In the closet I have a few plaid shirts, so I decided to go along and I bought the flared skirt in a burgundy-green-yellow-white color. It is very strong accent, so the rest of the look, which I'm showing you today, is in black. This is probably the last chance to wear sandals and skirts without wearing tights, so I used it in outfit that you can see in the pictures below. Have a good Sunday!

houndstooth

Now we’re here. Houndstooth and plaid. Can’t possibly go wrong with such a stunning pattern combo for fall. I love my new sweater, it’s from Otte which is New York based. Their sweaters are incredibly soft and perfect. I wore my new Warby Parker frames all day, I am REALLY obsessed. My poor Tom Fords have been sitting on my dresser for weeks now since I go these. They’re the Fillmore frame in the redwood ash color… I just can’t tell you how stunning these frames are. The color is red tortoise and it reminds me of fall leaves. BRING IT ON fall. Bring it. Harem and Prints

WEARING: ZARA CARDIGAN + MORRIS TERRY TANK + ROMWOMEN PANTS (C/O) + 3.1 PHILLIP LIM BAG + PERSUNMALL FLATS Photography by Dillon. I love the harem pants from Romwomen! I do not know how many times I previously mentioned this but I am always looking for comfortable clothing to be in. Most often, I dislike wearing denim pants because they are not the softest apparel to wear so I end up wearing skirts with tights and other days leggings. I would wear sweatpants but they are not the most professional either, which is why I turn to pants like these! They are super soft and can come in different prints. I paired this look up with a cardigan for the cool fall weather and flats for a casual, everyday style. How are you guys?! I've got exams coming up but I'll try my best to post whenever I can. Hope...

Do you really want to live in a world without Coca Cola?

Bonus points if you get the Breaking Bad reference. It's funny thinking back to 2011 when I never wore jeans. I even did a jeans challenge on my blog where I wore jeans every day for a week, just because that was a big thing for me. Now I could happily wear jeans every day for a month. As I work full time, jeans have become the easiest and simplest thing to throw on at the weekend, when I just can't be bothered with dresses and co-ordinating skirts and tops. A lot of this, too, comes with finding jeans that I love. I've spent the last year wearing out my Topshop Leigh jeans, which I have in both blue denim and black. They're super soft, super stretchy and the most comfortable jeans I own. So when Clothing at Tesco got in touch inviting me to get involved in their autumn...

|| Cheetah Skirt & Bold Shirt ||

Recently, I have been searching for some cute patterned skirts, and when I came across this one, I was so excited. I have always  LOVED cheetah print (and forever will). I think my obsession started in 1st grade when I  watched the Cheetah Girls movie over 500 times. Just admit it,  you loved those movies too. So anyway, since the skirt was black and white, I wanted to throw in a pop of color and some bling. I wore it with a simple pink blouse, and topped it off with one of my favorite statement necklaces. School Girl

School Girl Hello there darlings! I love the soft burgundy color of fall. I have so much items in my closet that are dark red and I can never get enough of it. I love mixing feminine and classic pieces together, so in this outfit I'm wearing a traditional, mustard blouse with my lovely ballerina skirt. I was so excited when Awwdore sent me this! It's a bit different than my normal skirts, since I usually wear either maxi skirts or mini skirts. To top it all off, I have my rad leather backpack from Charlotte Russe & my leopard print pumps. Overall, I feel like this outfit represents a perfect outfit for autumn.  RUNDOWN: Cardigan - Forever 21 Blouse - TJ Maxx "Bow My Darling" Mesh Skirt - c/o Awwdore Distressed Studded Leather Backpack - c/o Charlotte Russe Leopard pumps - Forever 21 xoxo

A Fall Wedding

Yesterday I trekked to Pennsylvania with my family to celebrate my cousin Sean and Meagan’s wedding. It was great to get to see a bunch of my relatives and welcome Meagan to our crazy family! I wore one of my favorite Fall dresses from American Apparel. I have a slight obsession with low back dresses and I’m now falling in love with this deep shade of red (just wait until you see the killer beanie I ordered!). Another one of my guilty pleasures are recycled and repurposed things. This bag, for example, is an old Dutch magazine. It’s definitely a statement piece and oh so green. As for statement pieces, I decided to try something new with my hair. I spent the entire day in two pigtail braids. About 30 minutes before the ceremony, I took out the braids and put in some leave in conditioner to tame the flyaways....

Pinafore ~ Forever 21, Flats c/o LeBunny Bleu Oh it's almost October, and the weather here has finally started to cool down! Time for sweaters and layering!!! (: So I guess you could say this is like my last summer-inspired outfit of the year haha and I'm wearing a pinafore again! It seems pinafores are everywhere. Since this one is black, I wanted to brighten/lighten the darkness with an aqua green top. And of course my flats (they are just the cutest things evr!) from LeBunny Bleu matched the ice cream colored top perfectly!!! Mmmhhmm I'm not really one who wears polka dots and stripes together that often haha. Well, hope your September is going lovely and thanks for reading!

Printed Biker Jacket

Tiger print biker jacket: Trash and Vaudeville (bought last year). Similars from Planet Blue, Karen Kane , Mango and Lousaviaroma. Faux leather wrap skirt: Dark Wings City. Love the Oasis, Topshop and Shopbop ones. Boots: Balenciaga (new lace up version). Similars from NastyGal (the Coltranes). T-shirt: Walmart mens section. Shades: Ray-Ban Clubmaster. Red initialed clutch: Valentino Right now it's that in-between weather (although it's hotter this week). I've seen a few printed biker jackets on the market and figured I'd try one (found a few months ago). I hated the idea of them at first. With time they've grown on me as long as the print doesn't look like it'll date. Figured I'd be safe enough with animal which feels like a classic anyway. Wore it the way I've sort of imagined: with nothing too complicated. The print's got enough going on. Also tried it over a plain long dress...

“Oh, it’s a long, long while from May to December, but the days grow short when you reach September, when the autumn weather turns the leaves to flame.” Frank Sinatra As September comes to an end, I can’t help but think about how great of a month it was. I mentioned I was about to celebrate my sixteenth birthday in my last post, and it has come and gone in a flash. I had an amazing day and hope this year will be as good as the last. This past week was my school’s homecoming. That’s another great thing about fall, is homecoming! One of our spirit days was “character day” and my field hockey team dressed up as the 101 dalmations (minus the 101 part, because there are only about 17 of us). Then on Friday was the powder puff football game (Juniors vs. Seniors). I had fun because...

Mango Street Fashion

I have created a list of sorts for things I must purchase for this coming fall. The list includes: loafers, cropped grey sweater, plaid shirt, plaid pants, leather skater skirt, and knee high boots. This outfit has crossed 3 off the list. I went into Mango this past weekend to purchase this plaid tank and walked out with this cropped sweater as well. I can’t wait to pair this with leather pants/skirts and my boyfriend jeans! Their new collection is insane, I wish I could have purchased more but luckily I have some self control… well…at least a tad. I paired this look with shorts since it’s still pretty warm here in So Cal. A girl can dream about fall though right? CHASER

Chaser Brand tank, J Brand flares, Jeffrey Campbell booties, Louis Vuitton bag Sometimes I just need to pack up my bags and go. Wander a few unfamiliar streets and escape a little with a friend. These high wasted baggy bell bottom flares made it in the mix on my trip and brought me back to my hippie mode for a bit. They were just what I needed for the short trip to Wilmington, pairing perfectly with all of the mixed things I threw in my bags. The gloomy sky didn't stop me from exploring town; I put on one of my favorite tees and just went for it, being a total Bowie fan babe. Vintage shopped the weekend away, grabbed a local bite, and embraced my new messy chopped hair. Isn't that the best? Good vibes all weekend, and I'll give these flares some of the credit.

Beach 12th

photos by Nicolette Milano Over the weekend I worked on styling a project with Harmony & Havoc, a junior denim brand that shot their most recent lookbook in Far Rockaway. I haven't been to the Rockaways since before Sandy wrecked it to pieces. Surprisingly enough, it's actually such a beautiful area with the new renovations despite some of the bad neighborhoods. My sister and I decided to hang around and shoot some pics afterward. The #ootd was very blue. I love mixing denim so I paired my new Big Star USA jeans with this vintage denim trench. Always prepared with a sweater tied around the waist just in case it gets a little chilly, and of course my comfortable Ahnu sandals to run around in. Black, White, and Lace all over

Although lace and floral are usually associated with warmer weather, I think they can be transitioned beautifully into the cooler months. I'm wearing this skater style dress with a pair of my trusty black combat boots. I think this dress is perfect for those warmer fall days because it still has the comfort of a summer dress but it's still fall appropriate because the delicate lace/floral pattern is on a darker black background. I instantly wanted this dress because I loved the high neckline and the dress is made of a slightly thicker fabric that is perfect for autumn. I threw my hair into a messy bun and clipped on a coral necklace to finish my 'black, white, and lace' all over look. Sabrina Says: The trick to transitioning your summer wardrobe into the fall is to pair items with fall staples. Whether it's pairing tights with your favorite high waisted...

Dear Pussycats, Today I want to briefly talk about feline power. Now yall know I refer to you guys as pussycats, and some might not know why well let me explain. One of my all time journalist idols if former editor of Cosmo, Helen Gurley Brown who recently passed away (click here to read my post all about her). Helen Gurley Brown had a spirit, a passion and a livelihood that I admire and look to emulate in my writing, and since she is no longer around to call her readers pussycats, I thought I would. Helen Gurley Brown was strong and fierce and she instilled that passion in her writing which was conveyed by her readers, her pussycats and I see the same thing for us! The actual animals themselves seem docile

An Oxford Education

Jacket: Loft // Dress: Brandy Melville (similar) // Purse: J. Crew // Shoes: Dolce Vita Get the Look I love the idea of an oxford shoe because they're typically found in menswear.  For women, however, it translates far less formal.  I wouldn't wear my oxfords with a suit, for instance--leave that to the boys.  Wear them with your favorite jeans rolled up or with dresses and skirts for a quirky alternative to sandals.   As it gets colder, we can add tights to keep warm.  In the meantime, I'm all for a little ankle intrigue! It keeps it fun and feminine.

Just Like Lana.

1960's Dress, White Heels: Thrifted. Vintage Earrings: Gift. Lipstick in MAC'S Myth. Hair Extensions: c/o Irresistible Me.  Hello for the second time today! I wore this very vintage outfit last Thursday inspired by Lana Del Rey in the National Anthem music video. I've had this beauty of a 60's dress for almost a month now after thrifting it in Akron. I've found it frustrating on how to wear it though, and what exactly to wear it with. It's a somewhat uncomfortable polyester fabric that doesn't breath well, and the pretty details on the bodice and waist are what I wanted to keep the focus on. So with these two problems, I knew I needed 1) a somewhat cool day to wear it and 2) to keep the outfit simple.  I wish you could see the details of this dress a little better in the photos--it's just beautiful!

Your bones are made of the same dust as the planets, your lungs are breathing the same air as the migrating butterflies, and your blood is pumping because of the love and care of thousands. You are not as broken as you think you are. You are full of the world.

Blurr dress, Cotton On Body t-shirt, Fashion Addict bag, Windsor Smith sandals I’ve always been a bit of a fan of black. I usually have to give myself a gentle reminder to inject a bit of colour into my outfits, otherwise I have been known to be accused of being a goth. Every now and again though, I’m willing to bear the brunt of a couple of labels, and take to the streets dressed head to toe in black.  Last summer, I was a bit of a fan of this layered outfit. It’s such an easy way to jazz up your wardrobe and get a little bit more wear out of your clothes. Add a studded bag like this one, and I’m set, even if it is just for a shoot on a coastal road. As you probably saw on Instagram (@prettydressesinthelaundry), I finally got my hair cut. 5 Ways to Wear a T-Shirt Day 2!

Watch: Mother's engagement watch (..that doesn't work!)  Oookay so orientation week for the first years is actually officially over (as of Sunday!) and I am no longer obligated to wear this shirt (hooray!) (it is being retired into my pajama drawer...), but this series will continue from last week! These are again my favorite pair of pants (gahh patterned pants are just my favorite thing to wear!) and I think my scarf/hijab, which has both shades of navy and red, pulls everything nicely together! Thanks again for a great discussion on my last Social Action Sunday about Islam (if you missed it you should def. check it out!),

#teenvogue // M&S pink coat (wut, find it here), UNIQLO silk shirt (find it here), TOPSHOP jeans, ZARA bag, SIGERSON MORRISON bootays I say surprise in many senses; firstly, jesus holy mother is that some color on my body? Is this real life? Secondly, and somewhat sarcastically, I'm insinuating that the fact I caved and bought a pink coat was not inevitable because who doesn't love feeling like a giant candyfloss stick? I sure do. And finally because this coat is Marks and Spencers which I think we can all agree, nobody saw coming...unless of course you've been on the internet for the last three weeks, in which case you've probably seen it... If fashion makes me uneasy in any sense, it's that I never really know what I would or wouldn't buy if I hadn't seen it plastered in every magazine

Train Station

(Kimono: Forever 21, Shirt: nowistyle, Jeans: J Brand, Hat: Urban Outfitters, Bag: nowistyle) There's something incredibly romantic about trains to me. I've for so long wished passenger trains would be revived across America and used as commonly for transportation as they once were. Not that I don't enjoy the timesaving convenience of planes for traveling, but I've just always thought it would be such an experience to view the different sceneries of the country by train. Crazy enough, despite the size of the small town in which I live, and its utter lack of basically... everything, it does happen to have a train station. So, say, if passenger trains up and made a comeback, I would be able to board from my very own town to travel wherever my heart desired. Ok, enough day dreaming... For this outfit, I paired one of my favorite kimonos with my new mint green...
