subtle luxury on the best hair day

Photos by Landon! gifted Subtle Luxury cashmere sweater  |  thrifted shift dress  |  Sam Edelman Trinas  |  hair c/o ghd North America x Sephora  Subtle Luxury by name and nature screams luxurious comfort and although you can't see it, this cashmere sweater was all that and more for a long night at the Sephora and ghd North America event last night. A quick run out of the store gave me a chance to photograph this gorgeous sweater that kept me warm on a surprisingly cool August day. I'll be styling this sweater in another post as well, this time, with a little more glam and sequins (hint hint).  My hair? It's not normally like this, but boy did ghd North America hook me up with some awesome locks! I'm not sure how often my hair will get treated like this, but I might just go and snag myself one of their...

multipurpose

Photos by Landon of FashionGoggled ASOS dress  |  ASOS flatforms A huge fan of this two piece, detachable maxi dress and these flatforms that go with everything. Is it any wonder that they're both from ASOS? Summer, don't end. I have so many plans for this dress. So many plans. Always schemin'.

so fresh so clean

Insight dress (on sale)  |  Line & Dot pinstriped blazer  |  ASOS flatforms  |  gifted Pinky Thumb sideways cross necklace   It's practically fall, but people, 80 degree weather calls for bare legs. I paired a light floral printed dress with a pinstriped blazer for a subtle mixed printed look that just seems kind of off-season. So over the arm party and very much into minimal accessories, this sideways cross necklace is sure to be an everyday wear, much like the black hair tie that's always on my wrist.

happiness ensues

Photos by blogger boyfriend Landon / FashionGoggled gifted Oasap varsity jacket  |  Club Monaco men's button down  |  Zara skort  |  Forever21 tote  |  Steve Madden sneaker wedges If you've seen me walking around these past few weeks, chances are, I'm wearing these sneaker wedges. I've been looking for sneakers for a while, ever since I fell in love with the Isabel Marant Beketts on practically everyone and did a post on sneakers here. The cartoonish charm of the Isabel Marants are what really drew me in, and although there were tons of suede shoes to choose from - Ash and ASOS - none had quite the character as the Marants. I wasn't about to spend $700 on a pair of shoes, although was seriously contemplating it, so when I saw these Hilights, I didn't hesitate to surrender my credit card to the cashier and purchase the most obnoxious, awesome pair...

flamingo

gifted Sugarlips dress  |  H&M cardigan  |  thrifted penny loafers When I saw this dress on Sugarlips, I knew I had to have it. Short, printed, with an open back and the color vaguely reminds me of a flamingo. I made this dress a statement piece and realized that even though the color isn't exactly fall-appropriate, throwing on a chunky cardigan and a pair of vintage loafers makes it just about right. Have you checked out Sugarlips though? Their new arrivals are just calling my name.

wintergarden spring

Photos by Landon of FashionGoggled gifted Koshka MinkPink Wintergarden blazer  |  Big Star waxed jeans  |  Zara maroon booties Two posts in one day? I just couldn't wait to style this Koshka blazer! The thing things I love about this blazer are the light silk, unstructured silhouette, the faded, bleached out floral print and the way that it falls just right on my shoulders (shoutout to Joanne for helping me choose the size!). I paired a pair of Big Star waxed jeans and a light chiffon top with the blazer to make the blazer the statement piece in my outfit. I've already got so many ideas for this blazer for the fall, maybe with this skirt from Koshka? Stay tuned!

lost in translation: tres

gifted Koshka dress  |  thrifted Anne Klein blazer  |  thrifted metal belt  |  Aldo beaded box clutch  |  Zara heels I tried to channel my inner lady for the final look for the Lost in Translation dress, threw on a belt to cinch in the waist, a sleek blazer and those open toed high heels from Zara. The always messy sidebraid  and the aztec print adds an everyday spin to the outfit. To tell you the truth, the last look was the hardest, but I can't wait until the next series!

style hunter

Photos by Apneet of FabricSnob thrifted army jacket  |  H&M grey tank  |  American Apparel tulip skirt  |  Steve Madden sneakers  |  Forever21 bag  |  gifted PinkyThumb necklace Today, my photographer is Apneet - whose vintage finds and mile long legs are just an added bonus to her sweet, bubbly and downright cool personality. Turns out, we go to the same college, and we squeezed this overdue photo shoot between a ten minute break and man, is her camera amazing or what? She's included me in the recent issue of the Hunter Envoy - in print! I picked up a single copy for myself, if you see one lying around, take a peek at the outfit that Apneet so aptly describes as having a "student-friendly price tag".

peach perfect

The only photographer for me, Landon Pavonine tank  |  Lafayette148 blazer  |  H&M peach coat  |  gifted Sugarlips trousers  |  gifted cross necklace  |  Forever21 ombre earrings  |  Rayban aviators  |  Zara heels Nothing will look masculine with a pair of awesome black heels, trousers aren't meant just for the boys. That all-too familiar side-striped detail is a recent favorite of mine, and will definitely be sticking around this season. The crop top - supposedly meant for the spring - hits right above the snakeskin band and the sheer sleeves on the blazer peek out of the peach jacket that I scored at one of H&M's recent sales. This $7.50 (hold your gasps) peach blazer reminded me of Landon's peach T from the summer, just goes to show that there's no such thing as season-appropriate colors.

silver sleeves

Photos by Landon ShopWasteland jacket  |  H&M shirt  |  UO pants  |  Zara heels There's a Space Jam feel to this jacket that just caught my eye when I saw it on the Wasteland site. The metallic sleeves give such detail and character to an otherwise basic varsity jacket that I probably own already. You can't go wrong with pairing it with grey and some light denim, balancing the outfit with a pair of boyish, baggy trousers and a pair of feminine, pointed heels.

camo & plaid

Photos by Landon and his incredible lens French Connection mens button down  |  Zara oversized sweater (similar)  |  Zara camo skinnys (similar)  |  Zara heels There's a thin line to cross when mixing prints. Wearing checkers and camo together might have been crossing that very line, but this oversized knit in a neutral color broke things up and kept the outfit together, making the checkered pattern more of a detail, rather than a statement piece. And these camo jeans that I've been eyeing forever at Zara are finally mine, shoutout to Jess for the rec - they definitely are an essential.

Pass the matchsticks! I’m several days back from Oz and still crippled with the worst jet lag I’ve had in 20 years of regularly making the interminable Sydney-London journey. Jet lag does, however, have benefits. Pre-dawn espresso-fuelled runs along the beach (to shake myself into the proper time zone) are no bad thing. And during hours of tossing and turning my mind replays the best bits of our trip.  That pretty much means my sleepless nights are spent thinking about food.
Sydney loves a food and drink trend, especially when it comes to coffee. Pour-over and cold-drip is still keeping the caffeine geeks occupied, but the really ubiquitous new coffee thang is piccolo latte.
piccolo latte
Technically it’s a ristretto shot, topped with a decent slosh of steamed milk. It’s served in a machiatto glass or dinky 100ml paper cups. (Coffee consumption doesn’t get more serious than at this joint in Marrickville.) Lemon curd tartlets also seem to be everywhere and I can confirm that consuming the two together is a very good way to pass the time.
Fattoush, the gorgeous sumac-redolent Middle Eastern salad (which my brother calls lazy persons tabbouleh as the veg isn’t chopped up so finely) is also incredibly popular, both in restaurants and home cooking. I followed the herd and made a batch for Christmas lunch, which was lovely with our Christmas lamb roasted on a spit.

pumpkin

Gap sweater  |  H&M skirt (similar)  |  Zara crossbody (similar)  |  thrifted loafers (similar patent version) The only thing better than wearing this outfit to an apple-picking farm was realizing that I had unintentionally dressed like a pumpkin, which I was surprisingly not bothered by. Today, I introduce you to the little Lam, the sister that doubles as an efficient photographer after Landon, whose talents lie in academics and athletics, whose personality so differs from my own - and all the while, is still one of my best friends.

second thoughts

Photos by Landon of FashionGoggled thrifted oversized overcoat  |  thrifted lace shirt (similar)  |  JCrew sweater (similar)  |  Nicole Miller velvet cigarette pants  |  Zara heels I've had this oversized overcoat (ha!) for a few years now and I've never pulled it out of the closet, truthfully was thinking about even selling it. There's something about this overcoat though, that just works and is just so practical for the current 30 degree weather happening in New York right now. I've also never given velvet cigarette pants a second thought, but paired with the right pieces - velvet can be a beautiful thing during the winter. Also, will you take the time to be a fan of my Facebook page? Blog updates, personal updates, and more!

Good thing I only saw a few people today, some of which I had incredible sample sale ordeals with (ahem Jasmine), which reminds me - sample sales harbor a certain type of evil person that one should never have to encounter.

They then curate special collections specific for your chosen look. I'm a Beach Bonfire chick, but I'm also loving the Downtown Girl collection, particularly the Central Jacket that I included in my holiday gift guide in my previous post. I went for a more sophisticated look with the Port Striped Raglan shirt with a tailored blazer and a pop of texture with my favorite Wet Seal skirt.

santa birth

gifted Sugarlips Santa Maria top  |  Forever21 skirt and shirt  |  Subtle Luxury cashmere cardigan  |  gifted Jimmy Choo clutch  |  Zara heels (similar) I finally caved in with the peplum trend, I opted for the Santa Maria top from Sugarlips with these gorgeous cutouts. It's in an easy, comfortable cotton material that I don't see too often in peplum tops - part of the reason why I'm so into it. Remember to enter the Nicole Miller giveaway here for a chance to win a beautiful black dress for the holidays! Here's how to enter.

plaid, plaid world

Photos by Landon UO jacket  |  random white T  |  Wet Seal plaid jeans  |  Zara heels  |  UO leather suede satchel If I lived in the city, I'd be poor. There's no doubt about that. I took a walk with a friend after dinner to "digest" - walked around Soho and of course, came across this beauty of a jacket at Urban Outfitters. With its leather sleeves and tailored fit, I had to have it. It was an impulse by at nearly 10:00pm at night and it's safe to say that I slept like a baby that night.  And congratulations to Laura N. for winning the Nicole Miller #NMHolidays giveaway - thank you everyone to participating, stay tuned for more exciting giveaways !

sweet sweats

Photos by Landon gifted DivaNY sweater  |  Forever21 tapered sweatpants  |  Zara heels  |  H&M jacket  |  Forever21 beanie  |  gifted Inlite Selene tote These sweatpants have folded neatly in my closet forever, they're comfortable but definitely won't hold up during 30 degree weather. For now, it'll do. The sleeves are the only interesting detail in this outfit - this is cool too (and when I say cool, I mean exactly they're exactly the same sweater). I completed the roll-out-of-bed outfit with my favorite oversized coat (that I desperately need a sweater shaver for), a droopy beanie that needed a double fold to fit my head and a new acquisition to my bag collection - the Inlite Selene, a bag that illuminates (literally!) and eliminates those nights of blindly rummaging through your bag for those keys or fifth chapstick that just turned out to be in your pocket the whole time.

a test run

Photos by Paulina UO sheer button down  |  H&M full skirt  |  Zara coat  |  Senso shoes  |  Boostcase wallet snap-on I call this a test trial for my Zara coat, wear it a few times with a few different outfits and see how it plays out, because listen - I can't really afford a $170 coat that I'll only wear for a few months. But then again, I couldn't pass it up when I put it on. I love its drop shouldered silhouette that subdues my broad shoulders. I love the quilted faux leather sleeves - with adjustable zippers in case my wrists decide to get fat. I love the whole wrapped-in-a-blanket feel to this jacket. Let's face it, ya'll. I'm not returning this, am I?

Sure, it was freezing. Never mind that it was a literal hole in the wall, but their french toast (with strawberry sauce) was out of this world and it was great to catch up with new and old friends while looking like a coat rack that everyone just piled their clothes on.

a ladylike attempt

Photos by Paulina gifted Sugarlips top  |  Eugene is My Middle Name skinnys  |  gifted Dannijo and Juliet & Co bracelets  |  Etienne Aigner satchel  |  Zara heels   Can we talk about Etienne Aigner? I remember lusting after vintage Etienne Aigner pieces in high school, the leather, the immensely beautiful vintage feel to their bags. Etienne Aigner has really grown into an amazing brand, paving the way with their signature doctor totes by creative director Daniela Anastasio Bardazzi. With their Soho store launching next year, they'll be making every girl's life so much easier when looking for the perfect leather bag and when trying to look like a lady.

With everything else so simple, I had to add a pair of printed pants and the color of the season, oxblood, in the form of one of my favorite bags to date.

Photos by Dara H&M tank  |  ASOS skirt  |  Zara booties  |  Dannijo cuff & bracelet  |  gifted MyKitsch ring It was all smiles after spending a majority of the day at my first work holiday party. For it to be with such a great company like Bollare made me realize how lucky I am to be surrounded by wonderful coworkers, all of whom I can call my friends. I didn't opt for the typical red, sequinned holiday ensemble and wore a new midi skirt and all dark everything. I paired all the darks with Bollare gifted  Dannijo friendship bracelet and their iconic jeweled cuff to make it one of the absolute best holidays I've ever had.

MOODY : Betul.

MISHLOVE
 : Dirimu yang sejati.

the leather pants

thrifted jacket  |  thrifted leather pants  |  gifted Lulus Rough Rider Studded Purse It wasn't too hard to carry myself through the day - sans caffeine - with these buttery leather pants of my dreams - perfectly slouchy, beautifully made and such a good deal that they were practically free.

rainy day default

Photos by Paulina thrifted puffy moto jacket  |  Hot Topic ombre skinnys  |  ShoeMint boots It was too warm to snow and too cold to rain - it was that sort of in between sleet that everyone hates. I went with an all black outfit, because that just seems to be everyone's default color. I dedicate this post to Fez, the creator of the term #gorgcouture and dresses everyday like he's going to the chicest funeral ever.

practice for nyfw

Photos by Landon gifted Friends & Associates silk shorts  |  John & Jenn cardigan  |  H&M coat  |  gifted Lulus sunglasses   I dared to bare my legs in this weather, mainly to practice for NYFW coming up, where I'll probably have to step out in stockings more often than not. Opted for a monochromatic outfit with neon details on this John & Jenn cardigan that's surprisingly warm and the flimsy silk shorts that I was telling ya'll about in this post. I can't tell you how excited I am to be seeing Stephanie and Natalie, among some other favorites and meeting some new faces! Be sure to follow me on Instagram for some live updates!

white flare

Photos by Landon Gap sweater  |  H&M necklace  |  H&M skirt (similar)  |  ShoeMint heels  |  ShoeMint satchel I can't get over the fullness of this skirt. The texture - hopefully you can see it - consists of a pattern of raised dots that are both whimsical and classy. A white skirt is going to do wonders when the weather gets warmer, with a little crop top, with an oversized sweater. I gotta say though, I'm channeling a little bit of that Kate Spade essence introduced in my last post, right? My next goal, get this cool Kate Spade number and add to my growing skirt collection.

here take my sweater

Photos by Landon gifted Friends & Associates shirt dress  |  Zara oversized sweater  |  thrifted briefcase  |  gifted Soxxy socks  |  ShoeMint boots I've been brainstorming ways to wear this gorgeous shirt dress from Friends & Associates after that intro that I did way back when. Sure, it's chic and minimal by itself, but only a crazy person wouldn't wear sleeves in this weather. I opted for my trusty oversized sweater to drop off the shoulder and show some of the beautiful pleating and contrast collar and to show its enormous versatility with cute striped socks and classic brown boots.

genius is a matter of opinion

Photos by Landon 3.1 Phillip Lim playsuit  |  Target shirt  |  H&M trench coat  |  Uniqlo vest  |  ShoeMint heels  |  Zara bag   A mindless, almost desperate layering of clothes that resulted in a sort of genius outfit, genius being a matter of opinion. I've also noticed that all of my posts recently (and upcoming posts) have been revolved around the cold weather and layering. I promise I'll get more interesting when the weather gets warmer. Stick with me, guys!

Photos by Landon ShopWasteland varsity jacket (varsity everything)  |  H&M coat  |  Big Star jeans  |  Zara bag  |  ShoeMint heels An example of functional layers, living in New York's taught me how to layer properly, without suffocating and feeling like a fat marshmallow under them. Keep your layers thin - like this button down - under a thicker sweater. Throw an oversized coat on top of everything and you're ready to brave the infamous Flatiron wind chill.

Especially for a little shortie like me. But with just a little bit of height from these new Senso shoes, I think I can pull it off. I paired these highwaisted jeans with a crop top and a varsity jacket (as always). Obviously, I was feeling a little street, so these Urbanears were a perfect addition to the outfit, giving the outfit a bit of a nonchalant, hiphop vibe that it desperately needed.
